Overcome Evil With Good

Sometimes the world is full of bad news. Awful news. Shocking news. Frustrating news.

Try to focus on the good.

It often seems too easy to share the sad stories and get angry about the bad things.

Try to talk about the positive things.

When your friends get all riled up in a heated political debate, remind them why they’re friends.

When the weather is gloomy and your favorite team loses the game and you’re frustrated and bummed out, go do something with someone you love.

It’s not easy to find your way out of the clouds. Sometimes when the world seems bad, all you want to do is sulk and wallow and let yourself recall all the horrible things that have ever happened to you, but try not to.

There is more good than bad, we just have to remember that sometimes. Life’s not always a cake walk, but the times that get you down are all worth it for those irreplaceable moments.

The moment with your best friends when you laugh so hard you cry. The moment your boyfriend gets down on one knee and asks you to be his wife. The moment your grandpa “cuts in” to dance with you. The moment you land in a new city and realize how much there is to discover there. The moment you drink coffee on your back porch and your house suddenly becomes your home.

I know it’s cliché, but life is short. Don’t take it for granted.

Thank God for your blessings and enjoy every second with the people you love. Try to take in the happy moments and let the good outshine the bad.

And today, because it’s October 1, grab a friend and indulge in a pumpkin-infused treat and relish in the fact that it’s fall, the weather is cooler and life is truly good.

welcome october
