Gosh, I have just been SO dang proud of what I’m seeing there this week. It’s about time the people fight against the politicians who are supposed to be serving them for what they deserve. What an atrocity to have let it go on this long and get so bad. I’m cheering you all on from Utah and hoping that soon those kiddos of Oklahoma get the education and learning environments they so deserve. Amazing job, teachers. Keep up the good work!
Discovered these candles at a fun little craft/antique/goods fair here in Salt Lake a few weeks ago. These candles smell A-MAZING. My current favorite smells like leather and oak. And It. Is. DELIGHTFUL.
They’re based in Idaho, but you can get them online. They’re also just very nice to look at, and I love my little pine-tree matchbox, too!
Surprisegiftco.com – https://www.surprisegiftco.com/shop/
Discovering this little Tulsa-based company has been life changing for me since moving far away from all the people I love most! They have THE cutest little gift boxes full of fun things to surprise your friends with on their birthday, for a new job, new house, just because, etc.
And even a couple of “man boxes” for the guys out there. It’s basically a box full of things I would pick out at Target or Hobby Lobby or a boutique to put together a sweet care package for a friend, but instead they’ve already picked it out for me and BONUS, I don’t have to go to the post office to ship it. Plust they package it adorably, and they’re also incredibly helpful and speedy with delivery! Can’t recommend them enough. I kind of hate sharing this secret a little, because now I can’t truly surprise any more of my friends with one. And because people will steal this idea from me for gift giving (like I stole it from my best friend who introduced it to me, haha). But it’s too good to keep to myself! Especially if you want to surprise someone who lives in a different area code than you.
Kacey Musgraves’ New Album – Golden Hour
I was a KM fan from the moment I heard “Merry Go ‘Round” and I’ve loved everything she’s done since. Her songwriting is absurdly clever, entertaining, moving and relatable.
I love every album, including the Christmas one, and her latest is no exception.
It’s full of sparkle, it paints colorful pictures in your head as you listen, and it makes you smile and cry*. It’s part country, part electric, part all-around feel good. I especially love Rainbow, which is the perfect little mood-booster for anyone feeling down. Enjoy!
*Dear Mom – If you listen to this album, please don’t listen to the song, “Mother.” K? Thanks. Love you.
Sound Machine/White Noise Playlists on Spotify
Most of these are dubbed “For Baby Sleep,” but I find that cranked to the gigs on my earbuds, they provide the perfect background to drown out any unwanted noise while I’m working. (AKA people playing ping pong. At work.)
Also great for falling asleep to if you have, say, a pond full of ducks and geese that quack and honk all night, or maybe children down the hall, or a snoring spouse. “Ocean waves” and “heavy rain storm” are most soothing for me. Probably not great if you have to pee in the middle of the night, though. Not that I know from experience.
The Greatest Showman
I mean. It’s just so much fun. The highs, the lows, the MUSIC, and most importantly, Hugh Jackman. How can you not love the man? The movie is a treat and the soundtrack has been heavy in my rotation since it came out. Paul and Pasek are beautiful brilliant musical geniuses.
Fun fact: Hugh Jackman used to play Curly in the Broadway musical “Oklahoma!” which has been celebrated a lot this week by current Broadway casts due to the 75th anniversary of the brilliant musical!

That’s all for today! I hope something strikes your fancy, and if not…here’s an amazing picture of my puppy mid-hike last weekend. The happiest hiker! (More on this hike coming soon…)
